About
The Present
Staying true to the ongoing Bleach manga – I kept Orihime the same age as she is after the time-skip, seventeen years old. This makes her a third year at Astraea High. Currently she resides in room number 176, and her roommate is a brunette by the name of Machi Kuragi.
The Past
When she was three years old, Orihime’s elder brother, Sora, ran away from home with her to save her from a certain death from their abusive parents; their father was a drunkard, while their mother was a prostitute, both of whom argued with one another and dealt out physical abuse daily. It is not known whether or not they are alive.
Sora assumed parental supervision over his younger sister, and they maintained a highly close and loving relationship. She was relatively happy, despite being bullied in school for her unique hair color. One day when Sora gave Orihime blue hairpins as a gift, she expressed her displeasure and deemed them “childish”. They both argued over it, and the following morning, Sora left for work without Orihime saying goodbye. Thereafter, he was hit by a car and taken to by a determined Orihime - whom miraculously bore his weight and carried him three blocks - to the Kurosaki clinic, where he died. Blaming herself for his death, Orihime retreated into a deep depression. Dealing with not only the death of her older brother but the bullying from her peers, she stopped talking, and became more alone than ever before. Tatsuki Arisawa was the one who supported her and brought her out of her depression. She defended her from bullies, and consequently they became best friends.
The Future
She does not know what time has in store for her. Orihime is merely trying to stay strong for all of her friends back home in Karakura Town, and adjust to this fresh start she has suddenly found for herself. As of now, she is single, and it will take a great deal of bonding and relationship development to procure her heart. Even then, she has varying issues to sort through before she can devote herself to any one person and engage in a serious relationship.
The Body
Orihime is petite, standing at a height of 5 feet and 2 inches. She has brown eyes with long, slightly wavy, waist-length orange hair. Despite her age, she has a surprisingly curvaceous figure, most noticeably her large chest. Her hairpins are worn in memory of her brother and used to clip back her bangs, only taken off before going to sleep. As the manga series progresses however, she goes from wearing them all of the time to growing out her bangs and clipping them onto the left collar of her school uniform. She has resumed wearing both of her hairpins in her hair upon transferring from Karakura High to Astraea Academy.
The Heart
Orihime is shy, gentle, sweet, humorous in her own unique way, and ultimately selfless. She comes off as rather naïve and ditzy, which is at odds with her exceptionally high marks in school. Orihime studies hard because when her grades drop, she receives less financial support from her relatives. She is often prone to zoning out with her mouth open and loses track of what she was originally thinking or talking about. Orihime possesses an overactive imagination and gets carried away thinking of implausible scenarios, such a portraying herself as a futuristic robot in an assignment asking a student, “How do you see yourself in the future?”
Often, she has demonstrated that she is perceptive when it comes to people’s mental and emotional state, particularly in regards to people she is close to, as she is able to tell what kind of driving force is pushing someone.
Orihime likes Asian flower print clothes and comedy mangas. While she does eat some normal food, she prefers to cook and eat unusual meals, which often other people find unappetizing. Her favorite food is red bean paste, pastries – particularly doughnuts – and she also likes putting butter on sweet potatoes. She enjoys cheese and butter in general.
